LLHM 2021: NEW DATE. NEW SOCIAL DISTANCED FORMAT. NEW DELIVERY PARTNER. NEW THEME

Thank you so much for your patience as we have been busy preparing our plans for the 2021 event. Our aim is to bring you an incredible and safe event back in London next year and we hope that you will be able to join us at the 4th edition of the LLHM.

NEW DATE: SUNDAY 23RD MAY 2021

We are pleased to announce that we have secured a new date for next year’s event. After careful consideration and planning with our stakeholders, we have moved the date of LLHM 2021 from 28th March to 23rd May. We know there is a still lot of uncertainty about events in the current climate, and while we cannot predict where we will be as a nation in eight months’ time, we are hopeful that our date change provides a greater buffer against any potential future impact caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

We’d like to say a very special thank you to Westminster City Council, the City of London Corporation, TfL and our other agency partners for their ongoing support, and for working with us to find a new date in the busy London calendar.

If you were due to take part in the cancelled 2020 event, please see our FAQ page which sets out the next steps.

MAKING LLHM 2021 SAFE

The safety of everyone involved is our number one priority and we know you may be nervous about returning to a race environment. Planning for the 2021 event is a collaborative effort and coupled with our date change we are working closely with our stakeholders, partners, and a leading crowd management specialist to plan out how the LLHM will be adapted to stage a socially distanced LLHM in 2021 if required.

The plans we are developing follow the latest DCMS and Run Britain guidance to ensure appropriate measures are in place on race day to keep everyone as safe as possible. Our current modelling and planning show that we can safely accommodate up to 14,500 race starters with social distancing measures in place. Our plans will naturally evolve and we will update you as we go along.

For more details on our plans to date, please visit our dedicated Covid-19 Safety webpage.

NEW DELIVERY PARTNER: THE GREAT RUN COMPANY

We’re also pleased to announce the launch of a new three-year partnership with The Great Run Company as our official Event Delivery Partner. As many of you will know, The Great Run Company is the UK’s largest mass participation sport business, organising a series of nationwide running events including the Great North Run, Great Manchester Run and Great South Run. We’re very excited to be working with the Great Run Company, who will bring their 40 years of operational experience and expertise to our event and will be supporting us in the next phase of our development.

NEW THEME

In addition to the new date and format, there will be a new one-off theme for LLHM 2021. The LLHM’s strapline is ‘The Grand. The Quirky. The Hidden.’ and the race has traditionally celebrated London’s quirky and hidden historical gems, along with its grand iconic landmarks.

In 2021 however, LLHM will shine a spotlight on the landmark moments of how the nation is coming together during the Covid-19 pandemic.

LLHM 2021 will bring to life:
•The Grand: Celebrating the grand, heroic and incredible actions and services delivered by the nation’s key workers.
•The Quirky: Showcasing the quirky and light-hearted moments of lockdown life to make you smile.
•The Hidden: Remembering the daily kind gestures of neighbours and small sacrifices that went unseen.

You can expect to experience The Clapping Tunnel to relive the weekly Clap for Carers, Hero Highway to celebrate the inspirational actions of key workers, and Quiz Corners to remember the classic Zoom quizzes of lockdown.
We will also dedicate a mile of the route to running in memory of loved ones who passed away during the pandemic.
We promise an unforgettable race day experience not to be missed and more details on our new 2021 theme can be found here.

LLHM 2021 PUBLIC BALLOT

The LLHM 2021 Public Ballot will open in October and as in previous years, we expect it to be hugely popular. We’ll be in touch with more information about the 2021 ballot over the coming weeks as well as providing details on signing up for a charity place. In the meantime, you can pre-register your interest here.
