The LLHM team have come up with some trails for runners and spectators to enjoy if you're in London over race weekend. We've worked with the City Guides and Westminster Guides to provide some fun facts too!

The Grand - Royal Trail 

Guide

  • Start at Kensington Palace
  • Leave via the Princess Diana Memorial Garden and Queen Victoria Statue.
  • Walk through the parks to Buckingham Palace
    • Need less walking? Hop on the tube from Queensway to Green Park (Central line to Bond Street then Jubilee line to Green Park)
  • Make a royal procession along the Mall to Admiralty Arch
  • Cut through Horse Guards Parade to walk past Banqueting House – where Charles I was executed
  • Take a break and take in the nature at Whitehall Gardens to have a look for the beautiful tree planted by G-A-Y & Heaven Nightclub, London Landmarks Half Marathon and Westminster. Have a look below: 
  • Keep heading up to Trafalgar Square – can you see Charles I and George IV anywhere?
  • Finish off at the Royal Portrait Gallery

The Quirky - Spooky Trail

Guide

  • Start at the Tower of London.
  • Head across Tower Bridge to the HMS Belfast.
  • Continue going west along the Thames to get to Bankside Pier.
  • Get the river boat from Bankside to Embankment Pier. Head to 14 Buckingham Street and look up to see Samuel Pepys' plaque noting where he lived after the Great Fire of London
  • Walk past the Adelphi Theatre, home not only to some great musicals but also to some gruesome ghosts.
  • Keep going to the well-named Bleeding Heart Yard
  • Had enough of the gore? Head to a Mangio Pasta & Bottega and enjoy 20% off pasta and drinks. Head on the number 17 bus to St Paul's or take a leisurely 20-minute stroll.

The Hidden - Less-trodden Trail

Guide

  • Start by Pall Mall at the Duke of Wellington horse block
  • Head to Trafalgar Square to check out London's smallest police station
  • Make your way through the West End to find Neal's Yard
  • Need a comfort break? Discover the urine deflectors of Fleet Street
  • Have a quick break at Postman's Park
  • Escape the city at the Barbican Conservatory
  • Stop by the Oldest tree in the City of London 
    • Need less walking? Skip this stop and grab the circle line from the Barbican to Monument for the Sky Garden
  • See London from a different angle at the Sky Garden
  • Finish off in St Dunstan in the East church garden
